Yin Deficiency Constitution in Traditional Chinese Medicine
Yin deficiency constitution describes a long-term constitutional tendency in Traditional Chinese Medicine, rather than an acute disease. It is characterised by insufficient Yin fluids and a tendency toward empty heat signs such as dry mouth, night sweats and warm palms. In classical practice this constitution is distinguished from excess heat patterns and from pure Qi deficiency. Nourishing Yin and clearing empty heat are the traditional strategic directions associated with it; specific formulas are selected only after further pattern differentiation in the clinical setting.
