Formula Overview

Stronger version of Li Zhong Tang with Fu Zi added. Used for severe Spleen and Kidney Yang deficiency with internal Cold, presenting with cold abdominal pain, chronic diarrhoea with undigested food, cold limbs and profound exhaustion.

Therapeutic Principle

Traditionally selected when Spleen-Kidney Yang deficiency is severe, with cold limbs and unremitting cold diarrhoea, adding Fu Zi to deepen the warming reach of Li Zhong Tang — yet still digestion-centred, unlike Si Ni Tang, which is reserved for the more critical picture of Yang collapse.

Clinical Perspective

Fu Zi Li Zhong Tang is the stronger, deeper-warming form of Li Zhong Tang for severe Yang deficiency. Xiao Jian Zhong Tang and Huang Qi Jian Zhong Tang address milder Middle deficiency with spasmodic pain and Qi deficiency. Si Ni Tang is used for more critical Yang collapse with icy cold extremities.
