Formula Overview

Formula for Blood deficiency with Cold in the channels, presenting with cold extremities, pain, and a fine almost imperceptible pulse. Commonly used for cold-type pain and Raynaud-like presentations.

Therapeutic Principle

Traditionally selected when Blood deficiency and Cold lodged in the channels produce cold, painful extremities — nourishing Blood while warming, unlike Huang Qi Gui Zhi Wu Wu Tang, which leads with Qi tonification for numbness, or Si Ni Tang, which rescues systemic Yang collapse rather than channel-level Cold.

Clinical Perspective

Dang Gui Si Ni Tang focuses on Blood deficiency with Cold in the channels. Huang Qi Gui Zhi Wu Wu Tang emphasises Qi deficiency with numbness. Gui Zhi Tang is the exterior parent. Si Ni Tang is for deeper Yang collapse without significant Blood nourishment.
