Blood Deficiency Constitution in Traditional Chinese Medicine

Blood deficiency constitution describes a long-term tendency in Traditional Chinese Medicine characterised by insufficient Blood to nourish the body. Typical features include a pale complexion, dry tissues and easy dizziness. It is distinguished from acute blood loss and from pure Qi deficiency. Traditional strategies focus on nourishing Blood; specific formulas are selected only after clinical pattern differentiation. Accompanying signs such as tongue appearance, pulse quality and the presence of heat or cold help distinguish one presentation from another.
