Formula Overview

A strong formula for severe interior Cold in the Middle Jiao with intense abdominal pain that cannot be touched, vomiting, and visible abdominal movement. Stronger Cold-dispersing action than Xiao Jian Zhong Tang.

Therapeutic Principle

Traditionally selected when interior Cold is severe and pain is intense, with visible peristalsis and vomiting, requiring the strong dispersing warmth of Shu Jiao — well beyond the milder deficiency-Cold with spasmodic pain addressed by Xiao Jian Zhong Tang or the foundational warming action of Li Zhong Tang.

Da Jian Zhong Tang addresses severe excess Cold pain. Xiao Jian Zhong Tang and Huang Qi Jian Zhong Tang address milder deficiency Cold with spasmodic or dull pain. Li Zhong Tang is the milder foundational warming formula without the intense dispersing power of Shu Jiao.
