Ning Sou Wan is a classical formula for cough with phlegm-heat of the lung — used to calm the cough, clear the lung and resolve phlegm.
Classical Formula Composition

Jie Geng (Radix Platycodonis) 3 g, Chuan Bei Mu (Bulbus Fritillariae Cirrhosae) 3 g, Zi Su Zi (Fructus Perillae) 3 g — descend the qi and resolve phlegm

Jiang Ban Xia (Rhizoma Pinelliae Preparatum) 3 g, Fu Ling (Poria) 3 g, Ju Hong (Exocarpium Citri Grandis) 1.5 g — dry dampness and resolve phlegm

Sang Bai Pi (Cortex Mori) 2.3 g, Ku Xing Ren (Semen Armeniacae Amarum) 2.3 g, Bo He (Herba Menthae) 2.3 g — clear the lung and calm the cough

Shi Hu (Herba Dendrobii) 3 g, Gu Ya (Fructus Oryzae Germinatus) 1.5 g, Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae) 0.8 g — moisten and harmonize the formula

Who This Formula Is Traditionally NOT For
Not traditionally matched to exterior wind-cold with profuse white phlegm, or to patterns without heat. Persistent cough warrants medical evaluation.
