Zhen Gan Xi Feng Tang — Sedating the Liver, Extinguishing Wind
Created by Zhang Xichun (Yi Xue Zhong Zhong Can Xi Lu, early 20th century), this formula anchors sharply rising liver yang with heavy substances while nourishing the yin beneath.
Traditionally used for liver yang rising with internal wind — classically described as marked dizziness, a distending sensation in the head and eyes, flushed face as if heat were rushing upward, tinnitus, and irritability. Anyone monitoring blood pressure or experiencing sudden severe headache, weakness or numbness should seek immediate medical care — this product is not a substitute for medical care.
Its classical actions are to sedate the liver, extinguish wind and anchor ascending yang while nourishing yin.
